About Domain Name Basics
Domain Name Basics was started by Tobias, a domain industry veteran of more than ten years. Over that time, he learned a lot about the domain business from the domain name system's absolute basics to technical implementations, contract negotiations, business development, policy development, and writing RFCs.
During his time in this industry, he saw many newcomers struggling with this complexity, and could personally relate. In 2016, he decided to start summarizing interesting and essential topics in presentations to make it easier for beginners to deal with this complexity. The result was a set of slide decks that provide a good overview to those getting started in the industry.
In 2021, Tobias graciously allowed the Internet Infrastructure Coalition ("i2Coalition) to continue the work maintaining this website and slides.
